I am a huge fan of Microsoft OneNote and have also tried out Evernote and some other electronic research notebooks. The drawback for me – a heavy Google Chrome Web browser user – is that the integration OneNote offers is with its sister product, Microsoft Internet Explorer.
If you want integration and do not want to be tied to Internet Explorer, take a look at Snippy. This highly rated extension for Google Chrome acts like the Send to OneNote or Evernote Web Clipper, where you can click on a bookmarklet and send content to an online resource. Where Snippy is valuable is that it can send it into your Google Documents, so you do not need to use a third party service to save your notes. It is not quite a research notebook but it provides useful integration for those who are already comfortable using Google’s applications.
